A Note on Using
the M32C Compact Emulator Debugger

Please take note of the following problem in using the M32C compact emulator debugger, which is used for the M32C/84, M32C/85, M32C/86, and M32C/87 MCU groups:
  • On debugging programs that use the watch-dog timer function

  1. Product and Versions Concerned
    The M32C compact emulator debugger
    V.1.00 Release 00 through V.1.02 Release 00
    (for the M32C/84, M32C/85, M32C/86, and M32C/87 groups)

  2. Description
The emulator is not be affected by the status of the "Debug the program using the Watchdog Timer." check box. (This check box appears in the Init dialog box that opens when the emulator debugger is invoked.)
So programs using the watch-dog timer function may not be debugged.

  3. Workaround
To debug the programs that use the watch-dog timer function, open the View menu and select the Script command immediately after invoking the debugger. The Script window opens; then type command WDT USE into this window.

To cancel the above command, type command WDT NOTUSE, and the emulator resets the MCU to remove the setting to the watch-dog timer.
(When the debugger is closed, the WDT USE command is automatically canceled.)

  4. Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this problem in the next release of the product.
