| A Note on Using
the E8 Emulator Software V.2.08 Release 00 |
Please take note of the following problem in using the emulator software for the E8 on-chip debugging emulator:
- On executing programs on the target system disconnected from the E8 emulator
- Product and Version Concerned
The E8 emulator software V.2.08 Release 00
- Description
When programs have been loaded into the target system using the R8C/Tiny E8 emulator debugger included in the product concerned, they may incorrectly be executed on the target system if it is disconnected from the E8 emulator.
- Conditions
This problem occurs if the following conditions are all satisfied:

The R8C/Tiny E8 emulator debugger V.2.04.00 is used. * |

The target MCU is any of the following in the R8C/Tiny series:
- R5F21142, R5F21143, and R5F21144 (the R8C/14 group)
- R5F21152, R5F21153, and R5F21154 (the R8C/15 group)
- R5F21162, R5F21163, and R5F21164 (the R8C/16 group)
- R5F21172, R5F21173, and R5F21174 (the R8C/17 group)
- R5F21181, R5F21182, R5F21183, and R5F21184 (the R8C/18 group)
- R5F21191, R5F21192, R5F21193, and R5F21194 (the R8C/19 group)
- R5F211A1, R5F211A2, R5F211A3, and R5F211A4 (the R8C/1A group)
- R5F211B1, R5F211B2, R5F211B3, and R5F211B4 (the R8C/1B group)
- R5F21206, and R5F21207 (the R8C/20 group)
- R5F21216, and R5F21217 (the R8C/21 group)
- R5F21226, and R5F21227 (the R8C/22 group)
- R5F21236, and R5F21237 (the R8C/23 group)
- R5F21244, and R5F21246 (the R8C/24 group)
- R5F21254, and R5F21256 (the R8C/25 group) |

Either of the following modes (option buttons) is selected in the Emulator Setting dialog box, which opens when the debugger is invoked:
- Download emulator firmware
- Dose not download emulator firmware |

In the High-performance Embedded Workshop, open the Tool menu and select the Administration command. The Administration dialog box appears, showing you the Registered Components list box. |

Read the version number of the component "R8C E8 SYSTEM" in the Debugger Components folder, which is displayed in the above list box. The version number of the product concerned is "2.04.00". |
- Workaround
If you want to execute programs on the target system that is disconnected from the E8 emulator, select the Writing Flash Memory mode after invoking the R8C/Tiny E8 emulator debugger; then load programs into the target system.
- Notice
Whichever mode, Download emulator firmware or Dose not download emulator firmware, is selected after invoking the debugger, the programs loaded into the target system using the R8C/Tiny E8 emulator debugger can be executed on the target system that is disconnected from the E8 emulator.
Since the emulator firmware, however, is executed first after reset is removed, the target system runs programs somewhat different manners from those in the actual one. So, when you make the final evaluation of your programs, be sure to select the Writing Flash Memory mode.
