• With using the evaluation version of the C/C++ compiler V.6.01 Release 03 for the H8SX, H8S, and H8 MCU families bundled with the emulator software

1. Product Concerned
   The evaluation version of the C/C++ compiler V.6.01 Release 03 for the
   H8SX, H8S, and H8 MCU families bundled with E8a Emulator Software V.1.00
   Release 00

   Note that unless the same compiler as the above is bundled with the
   above emulator software, it is not involved in this problem.

2. Description
   If the product concerned has been installed, an assembler source file
   (vecttbl.src) commented in the C-language may be created when
   a workspace for the assembler is created, causing an assemble
   error to arise.
   Note that this problem does not occur in the C startup file.

3. Conditions
   This problem may occur if the following conditions are all satisfied:
   (1) The product concerned has been installed.
   (2) The following are selected in the New Project Workspace
       dialog box, which appears when a new project workspace is created
       in High-performance Embedded Workshop:
       - "Assembly Application" in the Project Types list box
       - "H8S,H8/300" in the CPU Family list box

4. Workarounds
   This problem can be avoided in either of the following ways:
   - Delete the comments written in the C language in the assembler source
     file (vecttbl.src).
   - Download the evaluation version of the C/C++ compiler V.6.01 Release 03
     for the H8SX, H8S, and H8 families from the Web site at
       http://www.renesas.com/h8c_download
     and install it.

5. Schedule of Fixing the Problem
   This problem has already been fixed in E8a Emulator Software V.1.00
   Release 00A. For details, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS Document No. 070801/tn9,
   published in this series of news.
