Flash Development Toolkit has been revised from V.4.00 Release 02 to
V.4.01 Release 00. This tool kit is used for programming flash memory of the
MCUs in the SuperH RISC engine, M16C, H8SX, H8S, H8, and 740 families.
1. Descriptions of Revision
1.1 Supported MCUs Increased
The following MCUs have been added to the support line:
(1) H8/36078F (in the H8/300H Tiny series, H8 family)
This MCU is programmable via the RS-232C port, the HS0008EAUF1H
board (on-board programming adaptor board for flash MCUs), or
the E8a emulator.
(2) R5F3640D (in the M16C/64 group, M16C/60 series, M16C family)
This MCU is programmable via the RS-232C port or the E8a or E8*
emulator.
*The E8 emulator is discontinued product.
(3) R5F212E2, R5F212E4, R5F212F2, R5F212F4, R5F212G4,

(in the R8C/Tiny series, M16C family)
These MCUs are programmable via the E8a or E8 emulator.
(4) M38D29FF (in the 38000 series, 740 family)
This MCU is programmable via the E8a or E8 emulator.
For the supported device in the latest version,
please refer to this pdf file.
This document will be renewed on and after January 21.
1.2 Supported Interfaces Increased
(1) The E8a emulator can be used for programming the following MCUs
as well as RS-232C and HS0008EAUF1H:
| H8S family |
H8S/2639F and H8S/2638F |
| H8 family |
H8/3694F, H8/3687F, H8/36014F, H8/36024F, H8/36037F,
H8/36057F, H8/36064F, H8/36079F, H8/36087F |
(2) The RS-232C port can be used for programming the following MCUs
as well as the E8a and E8 emulators:
| R8C/Tiny series |
R5F21244, R5F21245, R5F21246, R5F21247, R5F21248,
R5F21254, R5F21255, R5F21256, R5F21257, R5F21258 |
(3) The interface for the debugger for the E8a emulator can be used
for programming the following MCUs as well as RS-232C and
HS0008EAUF1H:
| H8/300H Tiny series |
H8/36064F and H8/36079F |
1.3 Capabilities Introduced
(1) Capability to write identification code:
Writes information on and the serial code of your application
system into the MCU's flash memory automatically.
(2) Capability to tell linked pairs of emulator and software tool:
Tells which emulator is communicating with which software tool
when more than one E8a emulator is connected with the PC.
(3) Capability to provide checksum information at data uploading:
Provides the checksum of the specified address range when the
data in your MCU's flash memory is uploaded (read out). This
allows you to check to see whether the checksum information of
the specified range after uploading is correct or not.
2. How to Update Your Product
Free-of-charge online update is available. Download the installer of
the latest program from the Web site at
http://www.renesas.com/fdt_download
and execute it. This site will be opened from January 21 on.
If you are using the V.4.00 Release 00 or later product, AutoUpdate
Utility is available.
