A Note on Using the E8a and E8 Emulator Software Products
--With Debugging Systems Designed with Any Member of the M32C/80 MCU Series--

Please take note of the following problem in using the emulator software products for the E8a and E8 on-chip debugging emulators:
  • With debugging systems designed with any member of the M32C/80 MCU series

1. Products and Versions Concerned
   (1) E8a emulator software V.1.00 Release 00 through V.1.01 Release 00
   (2) E8 emulator software V.2.04 Release 00 through V.2.10 Release 00

2. Description
When you debug systems designed with any member of the M32C/80 MCU
series, the contents of addresses 88Ah and 88Bh in the on-chip RAM
of the MCU are rewritten to FFh and 01h.

3. Conditions
This problem occurs if the following conditions are all satisfied:
   (1) The M32C E8a Emulator Debugger or M32C E8 Emulator Debugger
included in the products and version concerned is used.

   (2) The system is designed with any member of the M32C/80 MCU series.

   (3) Any of the following operations has been performed:
       - Loading the user program on the target MCU via the emulator
       - Setting PC breakpoints
       - Changing contents of on-chip flash memory in the Memory window,
         for instance
       - Changing the settings of the Start/Stop functions

4. Workaround
Do not use the addresses 88Ah and 88Bh in the on-chip RAM as a portion
of the stack or data area.

5. Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this problem in the next release of the products.
