High-performance Embedded Workshop
Revised to V.4.06.00


We have revised High-performance Embedded Workshop from V.4.05.01 to V.4.06.00.
High-performance Embedded Workshop is bundled with the compilers and other software products that it manages.

1. Product and Versions to Be Updated
      High-performance Embedded Workshop V.3.00.00--V.4.05.01

   To check to see the version number of your High-performance Embedded 
   Workshop, open the Help menu and select the About High-performance 
   Embedded Workshop command.

2. Descriptions of Revision
2.1 Functions Improved
    The following six items of functions have been improved:

    (1) Displaying codes in the Memory window
        Complex, imaginary, and UTF-8-formated numbers have been added to 
        the codes that can be selected to display.

    (2) Debugging load module files in the ELF/DWARF2 format
        The following have been added to the functions for debugging load 
        module files in the ELF/DWARF2 format:
        (a) Displaying and modifying the values of variables of the complex 
            and imaginary types
            The values of variables of the complex and imaginary types 
            defined by the C99 language specifications are displayed 
            when any of the following windows and functions are used:
              - Stack Trace window
              - Watch window
              - Locals window
              - Tool-Tip Watch function
              - Instant Watch function
            Note that the modification of the values of variables can be 
            made in the Watch and Locals windows only.
        (b) Displaying the values of variables by using character codes 
            in the UTF-8 format
            The values of variables of characters and character strings 
            are displayed in the UTF-8 format when any of the following 
            windows and functions are used:
              - Stack Trace window
              - Watch window
              - Locals window
              - Tool-Tip Watch function
              - Instant Watch function
        (c) Setting more than one breakpoint in one source line
            If two or more instances are generated for a template function, 
            software breakpoints can be set for all the instances. 
            To do so, keyword "all" has been added to the operation 
            parameters of the "set_source_soft_break" command.

    (3) Typing the values of hexadecimal floating constants
        Hexadecimal floating constants are used to type floating-point 
        numbers in the following windows:
              - Watch window
              - Locals window

    (4) Saving code-coverage information on a file
        To save the results of code coverage on a file, they are sorted 
        in order of addresses when any of the following software products 
        is used:
              - E100 Emulator Software
              - E200F Emulator Software
              - E6000H Emulator Software for the AE-5 series
              - E6000 Emulator Software for the AE-4 series 

    (5) Displaying selected lines in the Profile window
        The lines selected in the List sheet on the Profile window before 
        the program is executed are displayed in the window after the 
        program is exited when any of the following software products is 
        used:
              - Simulator debugger for the SuperH family
              - Simulator debugger for the H8SX, H8S, and H8 families
              - E200F Emulator Software
              - E6000H Emulator Software
              - E10A-USB Emulator Software for the SuperH family

    (6) Debugging real-time OSes
        (a) Supported real-time OSes increased
            The TOPPERS/ASP kernel has been added to the support line.
        (b) Task names supported
            Task names are displayed in the windows of the debuggers 
            concerned when Micrium uC/OS-II used.
        (c) Opening the Select OS Definition File dialog box automatically
            The Select OS Definition File dialog box is opened automatically
            when load modules containing real-time OSes are loaded on 
            any of the following software products:
              - Simulator debugger for the SuperH family V.9.08.00 or later
              - Simulator debugger for the H8SX, H8S, and H8 families 
                  V.5.07.00 or later
              - E100 Emulator Software V.1.00 Release 00 or later
              - E8a Emulator Software V.1.02 Release 00 or later
              - E10A-USB Emulator Software V.3.00 Release 00 or later
            This improvement has been also fixed the problem in RENESAS TOOL NEWS

3. How to Update Your Products
   Online update is available free of charge. Update yours in either of 
   the following ways:
   (1) Use AutoUpdate Utility. This service is available on and after 
       July 7.
   (2) Download the update program of the product from:
         http://www.renesas.com/hew_download
       Then execute it. This site will be opened from July 6 on.
       The above URL is one of our global site (in English). 

   NOTES:
     Two types of update program are available. Use either of them 
     as necessary. They are as follows:
     (a) Full-update program
         The components of High-performance Embedded Workshop to which 
         changes have been made in and after V.3.00.00 are updated; 
         that is, V.3.00.00 and later can be updated.
     (b) Differential-update program
         The components of High-performance Embedded Workshop to which 
         changes have been made in and after V.4.05.01 are updated; 
         that is, V.4.05.01 and later can be updated.

4. A Note on Using Install Manager to Uninstall High-performance 
   Embedded Workshop
4.1 Problem
    If you use Install Manager to uninstall High-performance Embedded 
    Workshop, clicking the Uninstall button may not start uninstalling.

4.2 Conditions
    This problem arises if the following conditions are both satisfied:
    (1) The version of Install Manager is V.1.00.00 or V.1.02.00.
    (2) The version of High-performance Embedded Workshop is V.4.05.00 
        or later.

    To check to see the version number of your Install Manager, click the 
    About Install Manager button in the Maintenance window of Install 
    Manager. 
    If the About Install Manager button is not found, it indicates the 
    version number is V.1.00.00.

4.3 Workaround
    Uninstall High-performance Embedded Workshop by performing the 
    following procedure:
    (1) Out of the upper list in the Maintenance window of Install Manager,
        select the High-performance Embedded Workshop to uninstall; then 
        click the Switch Active Environment button.
    (2) Start Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel of Windows(R); then 
        follow the instructions to uninstall High-performance Embedded 
        Workshop.

4.4 Schedule of Fixing the Problem
    This problem has already been fixed in Install Manager V.1.03.00. 
    This version of Install Manager is included in each of the compiler 
    packages and the emulator debuggers that include High-performance 
    Embedded Workshop V.4.05.01 or later.
