PD77SIM and PD77 Precautions
|
Please take note of the following problem in using PD77SIM and emulator debugger PD77 for the 77xx series of MCUs:
- On downloading IEEE-695 absolute format files created by IAR's C compiler ICC7700 (EW7700)
- Versions Concerned
- Simulator debugger for the 77xx series: PD77SIM V.3.00 Release 1
- Emulator debugger for the 77xx series: PD77 V.2.00 Release 1 -- V.3.00 Release 1
- Problem
In IEEE-695 absolute format files (hereafter called 695-format files)
created by IAR's C compiler ICC7700 (EW7700), the part of programs beyond
address 100000h cannot correctly be downloaded.
-
Condition
This problem occurs if a 695-format file containing data (including instruction code) beyond address 100000h is downloaded.
-
Workaround
The custom window and converter are provided to download 695-format files
properly. Please install them into PD77SIM or PD77 in the following procedure:
- (1) Download self-extracting archive "_IARConv.exe" from the following table.
- (2) Decompress the above file on the directory where the executable file of PD77SIM or PD77 is stored; the following files are expanded:
- - IARLoad.p (for the custom window)
- - IARConv.exe (for the converter)
- (3) In PD77SIM or PD77, select [Optional Window] -> [Custom Window] -> [Option] menu. You see the Custom Window Option dialog box.
- (4) Click the Add button in the above dialog box, and IARLoad.p will be registered.
- 4.1 How to Use Custom Window
- (1) In PD77SIM or PD77, select [Optional Window] -> [Custom Window]- > [iarload] menu.
- (2) Click the Setup button in the custom window and select executable IARConv.exe for the converter.
- (3) Click the Download button in the custom window and select a 695-format file. Then, the file will be downloaded. Push down the Reload button if re-download necessary.
- Note: When using the custom window, ensure that the script window is open.
- Schedule of Fixing Problem
We plan to fix this problem in our next release.
