Remodeling Announcement

This is to announce that MCU board M34502T-MCU for the 4501, 4502, 4506, 4507, and 4580 groups in the 4500 MCU series will be remodeled.

- Problem
- When the "POF2" instruction is executed in the user's program, the evaluation MCU mounted on the M34502T-MCU board is put into RAM backup mode; however, the emulator and the emulation circuit remain in the usual mode of operation, which causes the following symptoms to appear:
- (1) In the status LEDs on the PC4504 emulator, POF is kept turned off.
- (2) Since the emulation circuit remains in the usual mode of operation, RAM backup mode cannot be exited by the input to the D, P0, P1, or INT pin.
- Symptoms
- (1) When used for the 4501, 4502, and 4580 MCUs:
- * If the "POF2" instruction is executed, evaluation cannot be performed in RAM backup mode.
- * If the "POF" instruction is executed, however, evaluation will be made in the above mode.
- (2) When used for the 4506 and 4507 MCUs:
- *Evaluation cannot be performed in RAM backup mode.
- Cause
Evaluation in RAM backup mode by executing the "POF2" instruction cannot be supported owing to the fault of the device mounted on M34502T-MCU that is used for decoding instructions.
- How to Remodel MCU Board
- The products concerned are remodeled free of charge. Send your M34502T-MCU product to your local Renesas Technology sales office or distributor. Please be sure to enclose the filled-in "M34502T-MCU Remodeling Application Form" in it.
- We will ship back your product upon replacing the device and checking your product.
- Others
(1) Effective date of application: From September 1 to December 31, 2000, inclusive.
(2) We will not be able to supply you with another MCU board for remodeling periods.
