MM
Precaution

Please take note of the following problem in using Mitsubishi Maskfile converter MM:
  • On placing two or more pieces of data at the same address in data files written in hexadecimal format for creating mask files

  1. Versions Concerned
    MM V.2.00.00 -- V.3.00 Release 1

  2. Description
Since MM does not check the contents of files written in hexadecimal format, it creates mask files without displaying any error message if you should place two or more pieces of data at the same address in a data file written in hexadecimal format. Consequently, if mask files created such a way are used for making mask ROM, they will cause errors during the mask making process, and the process will be discontinued.
    2.1 Conditions
This problem occurs if the following two conditions are satisfied:
    (1) Any of the C compilers and assemblers listed below is used.
    • C compiler NC77WA (with an assembler and integrated development environment) for the 77xx series MCUs
    • Relocatable assembler RASM77 for the 77xx series MCUs
    • Relocatable assembler SRA74 for the 740 family MCUs
    • Absolute assembler ASM45 for the 4500 series MCUs (included with PD45)
    • Absolute assembler ASM72 for the 720 series MCUs (included with RTT72 and RTT72S)
    • Cross-tools manufactured by third parties
Please consult the manufacturer of the cross-tool considered on whether such an error or warning message as described in Condition (2) is displayed or not.
    (2) When generating a data file written in hexadecimal format, the error or warning message that says two or more pieces of data are placed at the same address was displayed (for example, in ASM45 and ASM72), and this data file is used in MM.

  3. Workaround
Do not use such a file as described in Condition (2) above.

  4. Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this problem in our future release in which MM will check the contents of data files written in hexadecimal format at creating mask files and display an error message if two or more pieces of data are placed at the same address in these data files.
