A Note on Emulator Debuggers
M3T-PD79, M3T-PD77, and M3T-PD38

Please take note of the following problem in using emulator debuggers M3T-PD79,M3T-PD77, and M3T-PD38:
  • On using an LPT parallel interface

  1. Products and Versions Concerned
M3T-PD79 V.4.10 Release 1 for the 79xx series of MCUs
M3T-PD77 V.4.10 Release 1 for the 77xx series of MCUs
M3T-PD38 V.5.10 Release 1 for the 740 family of MCUs

  2. Description
At the installation of the products concerned, information necessary to making effective the mlptdrv2.sys device driver for LTP parallel interfaces cannot be written into Windows' registry. Then, when an LTP parallel interface is used, communication errors may arise at launching the emulator debugger

  3. Conditions
This problem may occur if the following two conditions are satisfied:
    (1) The operating system is Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0.
    (2) An LPT parallel interface is selected.

  4. Workaround
This problem will be circumvented in either of the following ways:
    (1) Upgrading emulator debuggers
Upgrade your product to the corresponding one in the following problem-fixed products:
    • M3T-PD79 V.4.10 Release 1A
    • M3T-PD77 V.4.10 Release 1A
    • M3T-PD38 V.5.10 Release 1A
For information about how to upgrade the products concerned, see MAEC TOOL NEWS "Emulator Debuggers M3T-PD79, M3T-PD77, and M3T-PD38 Upgraded to V.4.10 Release 1A, V.4.10 Release 1A, and V.5.10 Release 1A Respectively" issued on October 16, 2002.

    (2) Installing the registry info file
We furnish the registry info file through our Web site. So if you are using any of the products concerned, install it to your system as follows:
(a)Log on as a member of the Administrators group.
(b)Download the registry info file mlptdrv2.reg (185 bytes) that makes effective the device driver for LTP parallel interfaces.
(c)Double-click the mlptdrv2.reg file on your PC, and the information necessary to making the device driver effective will be written into Windows' registry.
    (d)Restart Windows

Notes: If circumstances prevent you from downloading the registry info file, contact your local Renesas Technology sales office or distributor.
