A Note on Using Debuggers
M3T-PD308SIM, M3T-PD308F, M3T-PD308, and M3T-PD308M

Please take note of the following problem in using simulator debuggers and emulator debuggers for the M32C/80 and M16C/80 series MCUs:
  • On reverse-assemble display of the SCCnd instruction

  1. Products and Versions Concerned
    Simulator debuggers:
      M3T-PD308SIM V.1.00 Release 1 through V.3.10 Release 1
Emulator debuggers for the PC7501 emulator system:
      All the versions of M3T-PD308F
Emulator debuggers for the PC4701 emulator system:
      All the versions of M3T-PD308
    Emulator debugger for compact emulators:
      All the versions of M3T-PD308M

  2. Description
When the destination of an SCCnd instruction is register A0 or A1, the reverse-assemble display of the instruction may show "???" in the Program window and others.
    Example in assembly language
    -------------------------
    SCNE A0
    -------------------------

    Example in reverse-assemble display
    -------------------------
    ???
    -------------------------

  3. Workaround
    3.1 In the M3T-PD308SIM
This problem has been fixed in the M3T-PD308SIM V.3.20 Release 1.
So, use this or later version of the product.

    3.2 In the M3T-PD308F and M3T-PD308
We supply the problem-fixed DLL file for each product. So, please replace the DLL file in your product with the above-mentioned one as follows:
    (1) Download the problem-fixed DLL file (compressed) you want.
    p308fedll.exe for the M3T-PD308F (475KB)
    p308edll.exe for the M3T-PD308 (469KB)
    (2) Decompress the downloaded file to obtain either of the following files:
    p308fedll.dll (V.1.41.00) for the M3T-PD308F
    p308edll.dll (V.1.41.00) for the M3T-PD308
    (3) With the decompressed file, overwrite the old file with the same name in the folder where the product has been installed.
    (4) Confirm the version of the new DLL file as follows:
    (a) Launch your debugger.
    (b) Open the Help menu and select the About command. The Version dialog box appears.
    (c) On this dialog box, confirm the version of the new file is what you want.

    3.3 In the M3T-PD308M
We supply the problem-fixed DLL file for the product. So, please replace the DLL file in your product with the above-mentioned one as follows:
    (1) Download the problem-fixed p308mdll.exe file (compressed: 226KB)
    (2) Decompress the downloaded file to obtain the pdbdll.dll file (V.1.11.00).
    (3) With the decompressed file, overwrite the old file with the same name in the folder where the product has been installed.
    (4) Confirm the DLL file has been updated as follows:
    (a) Launch your debugger.
    (b) Open the Option menu and select the Line Assemble command. The Line Assemble dialog box appears.
    (c) Type an SCCnd instruction "SCNE A0" in the Code edit box to line-assemble and check whether the results of execution are correctly displayed in the Line Assemble dialog box and the Program window.

  4. Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this program in our next release of the M3T-PD308F, M3T-PD308, and M3T-PD308M products.
