Emulator Debuggers
M3T-PD32RM and M3T-PD32R Upgraded

We have upgraded the emulator debuggers for the M32R family MCUs as follows:
  • M3T-PD32RM for the M32100T5-SDI-E, M32100T3-SDI-E and M32100T-EZ-E emulators:
    from V.2.00 Release 1 to V.2.10 Release 1
  • M3T-PD32R for the M32100T2-SDI-E emulator:
    from V.4.00 Release 1 to V.4.10 Release 1(*)
NOTE:
(*) Also supports the following emulators used for repair and spare only:
  M32120T-SDI, M32120T-SDI, M32100T-SDI-E,
  M32170T-SDI, M32310T-SDI-E, and M32310T-SDI

  1. Descriptions of Upgrade
    1.1  Functions Introduced
    (1)The M32100T5-SDI-E emulator supported (in M3T-PD32RM only).
(2)The Data Trace window introduced (in M3T-PD32RM only): it analyzes the results of real-time trace measurement and graphically displays information on data accesses (reads from and writes to memory).
(3)The AddPath script command added: it gives the search path (directory path name) to the directory where source files are searched for.

    1.2  Functions Improved
    (1) In the Trace window
    (a) Two or more display modes are selectable. When disassemble and source modes of displays are selected, the results of disassemble are displayed immediately after the source lines.
    (b) The results of trace measurement are displayed and identified by color; for example, red and blue represent trace data showing reads from and writes to memory respectively.
    (c) Time information of trace measurement results can be displayed using one mode selected from the following three:
    * Absolute Time: Elapsed time from the beginning of program execution to each measurement time
    * Difference: Differential time between each measurement time and its immediately preceding one.
    * Relative time: Relative time between a selected piece of trace data and another (a selected piece of trace data is displayed in Absolute Time).
    (2) In the MR window
In addition to the statuses of OS resources such as tasks, mailboxes, and semaphores, those of message buffers, ports and prioritized mailboxes can also be displayed.
Furthermore, the statuses of OS resources, which can hitherto be displayed only during the halt of the target system, is now seen during the execution of the target.

    1.3  Problems Fixed
The following known problems have been fixed:
    (1) On referencing a member of a struct or union
For details, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS "A Note on Using Debuggers M3T-PD32RSIM, M3T-PD32RM, and M3T-PD32R " issued on November 1, 2003.
    (2) On using the Memory window: if the Memory window remains minimized
(collapsed into its taskbar button) immediately after launching the debugger, restoring or maximizing it causes the debugger to terminate unsuccessfully.
For details, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS "A Note on Using Emulator Debuggers M3T-PD32RM and M3T-PD32R" issued on December 1, 2003.
