A Note on Using Emulation Pods for the M16C/60 Series MCUs
|
Please take note of the following problem in using the emulation pods listed
below (each of these pods is used in combination with the PC4701 emulator):
- Products Concerned
| MCUs Supported | Product Type | Serial Nos. Involved |
| M16C/62P and M16C/30P MCU groups | M3062PT3-RPD-E | All the products |
| M3062PT3-RPD | Every product whose serial number ends by A (upgraded products from TS and WS) |
| M16C/62N and M16C/30L MCU groups | M3062NT3-RPD-E | All the products |
| M30245 (in M16C/24 group) | M30245T3-RPD-E | All the products |
| M30245T-RPD | Every product whose serial number ends by M (upgraded products from TS, WS and ES) |
M16C/6N4, /6N5, /6NK, /6NL, /6NM, and /6NN (in M16C/6N group) | M306NKT3-RPD-E | All the products |
| M306NKT3-RPD | All the products |
M16C/6N4 and /6N5 (in M16C/6N group) | M306N4T3-RPD-E | All the products |
| M306H3 (in M16C/6H group) | M306H3T3-RPD-E | All the products |
| M306H3T3-RPD | All the products |
- Description
If your emulation pod is used in memory expansion or microprocessor mode, and "External" is selected at memory mapping* to the area
used as a stack, the data values in register R0 and at address 0000Ah become indefinite after debug operations such as stopping the user
program, referencing memory, and changing memory.
* Selections at memory mapping
| Internal | : | Emulation memory of an emulation pod used. |
| External | : | Memory on the target board or resources of an evaluation MCU used. |
- Workaround
Select "Internal" at memory mapping to the area used as a stack.
If "External" selected, only program execution will be available in debug operations.
- Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this problem in our next release of the M3T-PD30 emulator debugger, but it is unnecessary to fix the emulation pods concerned.
