A Note on Using the E8 Emulator Software
V.1.02 Release 00
--On Reprogramming Flash Memory Using the Flash Development Tool Kit Ver.3.3--
|
Please take note of the following problem in using the E8 Emulator Software V.1.02 Release 00:
- On reprogramming flash memory using the flash development tool kit Ver.3.3
- Products Concerned
The E8 emulator software V.1.02 Release 00 used in combination with the
flash development tool kit (HS6400FDIW3SR) Ver.3.3
- Description
If the flash development tool kit Ver.3.3 is launched to reprogram the
flash memory in any of the MCUs listed below using the E8 emulator as
an adaptor board, the MCU operates in the single chip mode for about
30 ms at first.
As a result, the MCU may run away, causing internal resources such as
SFRs to be rewritten or parts on the User's board damaged.
Note, however, that after the period of the single chip mode, the MCU
properly enters in the boot mode.
MCUs Involved in This Problem
R5F21102, R5F21103, and R5F21104 (in the R8C/10 group)
R5F21112, R5F21113, and R5F21114 (in the R8C/11 group)
R5F21122, R5F21123, and R5F21124 (in the R8C/12 group)
R5F21132, R5F21133, and R5F21134 (in the R8C/13 group)
NOTE:
This problem arises from the firmware included in the E8 emulator
software V.1.02 Release 00; the flash development tool kit Ver.3.3
is irrelevant to the problem
- Workaround
Don't use the E8 emulator software V1.02 Release 00 in combination
with the flash development tool kit when reprogramming any of the
above-mentioned MCUs; use the E8 in the Writing Flash Memory mode.
About the Writing Flash Memory mode, see Section 4.3.3 "Settings of Writing Flash Memory Mode"
in the Debugger part of the E8 Emulator User's Manual.
- Solution
We plan to fix this problem in the E8 emulator software V.1.02 Release 01 by modifying the firmware.
So, if you need to reprogram any of the above-mentioned MCUs using the flash development tool kit,
use the E8 emulator software V.1.02 Release 01.
Please download the updating program to V.1.02 Release 01 from E8 Emulator Software Online Upgrade
(available on and after this December 22; we will inform you of the date again on our tool news when fixed).
After installing the E8 emulator software, make system checks of it
and transfer the firmware to the E8 emulator.
For how to make system checks, see Section 3.8 "System Checks" in the
Debugger part of the E8 Emulator User's Manual.
- Notice
The E8 emulator software V.1.01 and earlier do not support the R8C/10
through /13 groups of MCUs. When developing programs for those MCUs,
use the E8 emulator software V.1.02 Release 01.
