A Note on Using the Simulator Debugger
for the H8S Family and H8/300 Series of MCUs

Please take note of the following problem in using the simulator debugger for the H8S family and H8/300 series of MCUs:
- On searching for trace records
- Version Concerned
Simulator debugger V.5.03.00 for the H8S family and H8/300 series of MCUs
(this is included with the C/C++ compiler package V.6.01 Release 00 for the H8, H8S, and H8SX families)
To check for the version number of your simulator debugger, follow these steps:

In the High-performance Embedded Workshop, open the Tool menu and select the Administration command. The Tool Administration dialog box appears. |

Select the name of your simulator debugger in the Registered Components list and click the Properties button. The Properties dialog box opens. |

Click the Information tab, and you see the version number of yours. |
- Description
If you select any of the simulators shown below out of the Target list in the Debug Settings dialog box*, trace information will be displayed in the Trace window. Under this condition, if you search for trace records with "Address" being selected as a search criterion, no matching addresses will be searched for even when they exist.

To see the Debug Settings dialog box, open the Debug menu and select the Debug Settings command. |
- Workaround
Instead of searching for trace records using "Address" as a search criterion, open the Statistics dialog box* and use the statistical analysis function for trace information

Right-click an unoccupied area of the Trace window; then a pop-up menu is opened. Select the Statistics command out of the menu, and you see the Statistics dialog box. |
- Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this problem in the release of the simulator debugger V.5.04.00 for the H8S family and H8/300 series.
