A Note on Using
the High-performance Embedded Workshop V.4 |
Please take note of the following problem in using the High-performance Embedded Workshop V.4, an integrated development environment:
- On the AutoUpdate utility
- Versions Concerned
High-performance Embedded Workshop (*) V.4.00.00 and V.4.00.01
* The High-performance Embedded Workshop is bundled with the software products (for example, a C compiler) that support it.
To check for the version number of your High-performance Embedded
Workshop, open the Help menu and select the About High-performance
Embedded Workshop command.
- Description
If the download of the update program of any software product is
cancelled on the way in the AutoUpdate wizard, the update program may
not properly update the software product when downloaded next time,
resulting in the following error message being displayed in the
Installing Updates window:
Error message displayed:
"%1 is not a valid Win32 application." or
"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
- Condition
This problem occurs if the High-performance Embedded Workshop V.4.00.00 or V.4.00.01 is used in combination with any of the following products:
- C-compiler package M3T-NC308WA V.5.20 Release 02
(for the M32C/90, M32C/80 and M16C/80 series)
- C-compiler package M3T-NC30WA V.5.30 Release 02
(for the M16C/60, M16C/30, M16C/20, M16C/10, M16C/Tiny and R8C/Tiny series)
- C/C++ compiler package V.9.00 Release 02
for the SuperH RISC engine family
- C/C++ compiler package V.6.01 Release 00
for the H8SX, H8S and H8 families
- M16C R8C debugger package V.1.00 Release 00
(for the M16C/60, M16C/30, M16C/20, M16C/10, M16C/Tiny, and R8C/Tiny series)
- E10A-USB emulator software V.2.00 Release 00
(for the SuperH RISC engine, H8S, and H8SX families)
- Workaround
Don't cancel the download of any update program on the way.
Should an error arise and the download not be completed, stop using the AutoUpdate wizard; download the update program from the online update site and update the software you want to do.

We plan to fix this problem in the next release of the product.
