Notes on Using the E200F and E10A-USB
Emulator Software Packages

Please take note of the following problems in using the emulator software packages for the E200F and the E10A-USB emulator:
  • On using the Event Condition capability
  • On using built-in trace capability
  • On using performance analysis capability

  1. Products and Versions Concerned
    1. Emulator software V.1.00 Release 00 and V.1.01 Release 00
used for the E200F emulator of type R0E0200F1EMU00
    2. Emulator software V.1.08 Release 00 through V.2.00 Release 01
used for the E10A-USB emulators of types HS0005KCU01H and HS0005KCU02H

  2. Descriptions
When MCUs in the SH7200 group (SuperH RISC engine family) are targeted for debugging, the problems described below may arise.

2.1 On Using the Event Condition Capability
If any of these operations, setting breakpoints, clearing them, and changing their Event Conditions,* is performed during executing the user program, the High-performance Embedded Workshop may get out of control. So don't set and clear breakpoints and change their event conditions during executing the user program.

Right-click an arbitrary line in the Event window or a circle denoting a breakpoint in the Source window to open a pop-up menu. On this menu select the Edit command and the Break condition dialog box opens. This dialog box allows you to perform any of the above operations.
Or, double-click an arbitrary cell in the Event field in the Source window, which also allows you to do so.

2.2 On Using Built-in Trace Capability
Consider the case where you are using the built-in trace capability of the target device.* If displayed a result of tracing the instruction that is accessing a word-size operand using the PC relative addressing mode, the size of the operand is not represented as "WORD" but "LONG."

This capability can be used as follows:
Right-click an unoccupied portion of the I-Trace/AUD Trace window to open a pop-up menu. On this menu select the Set command and the I-Trace/AUD_Trace acquisition dialog box opens. On the Trace Mode page of this dialog box, click the I-Trace toggle button in the Trace Type area.

2.3 On Using Performance Analysis Capability
If any of the following items of measurement is selected in performance measurement,* incorrect results may be displayed in the Performance Analysis window:

    (1) All area access cycle (ARC)
    (2) All area instruction access cycle (ARIC)
    (3) All area data access cycle (ARDC)
    (4) All area access stall (ARS)
    (5) All area instruction access stall (ARIS)
    (6) All area data access stall (ARDS)

Selection of an item of measurement is as follows:
Right-click an arbitrary line in the Performance Analysis window to open a pop-up menu. On this menu select the Set command and the Performance Analysis dialog box opens. On this dialog box select any of the above items (1) through (6) in the Channel 1, 2, 3, and 4 dropdown lists.

  3. Solution
We plan to fix these problems in the next release of the products.
