The E7 Emulator Software Revised to
V.3.00 Release 00

We have revised the emulator software for the E7 on-chip debugging emulator from V.2.06 Release 00 to V.3.00 Release 00.

  1. Product Concerned
The emulator software used in combination with the following E7 emulator:
       Product type: HS0007TCU01H
(This E7 emulator is used for the H8/300H Tiny, H8/300H Super Low Power, and H8/300L Super Low Power series, H8 family; and the R8C/Tiny series, M16C family of MCUs.)

  2. Descriptions of Revision
    2.1   Supported MCUs Increased
Three MCUs in the H8/300H Tiny and H8/300H Super Low Power series of MCUs have newly been added to the support line. They are as follows:
    (1) H8/300H Tiny series
    H8/36077F
    (2) H8/300L Super Low Power series
    H8/38327F and H8/38347F

2.2   The High-performance Embedded Workshop Revised
The High-performance Embedded Workshop bundled with the software has been revised to V.4.00.01.
For details, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS "The High-performance Embedded Workshop, an Integrated Development Environment, Revised to V.4.00.01" NO. RSO-HEW_1-050401D, issued on April 1, 2005.

This emulator software is an object of the AutoUpdate utility provided by the High-performance Embedded Workshop. For the AutoUpdate utility, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS "The High-performance Embedded Workshop, an Integrated Development Environment, Provided with the AutoUpdate Utility" NO. RSO-HEW_1-050301D, issued on March 1, 2005.

2.3   Improvements Made to the USB Driver
    (1) The host PC's CPU usage during executing user programs decreases.
    (2) The host PC is prevented from entering suspended mode during debugging. This ensures that communication between the host PC and your E7 emulator will not be discontinued during debugging unless you interrupt it.

2.4   Functions Improved and Problems Fixed in the R8C/Tiny E7 Emulator Debugger
    2.4.1   Functions Improved
    (1)   Communication with more than one emulator supported More than one E7 emulator can be connected with the host PC to debug two or more programs at a time.
    (2)   The displaying format of IO definition files modified The contents of IO definition files are displayed in bit-field format in the IO window.
    (3)   The Cancel button added to the Select Emulator Mode dialog box The Cancel button has been added to the Select Emulator Mode dialog box, which appears by opening the Debug menu and choosing the Connect command.

    2.4.2   Problems Fixed
The following problems have been fixed:
    (1)   On loading IEEE695-formatted object files to the emulator
For details, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS "A Note on Using the E8 and E7 Emulator Software Products" NO. RSO-E8_1-050416D, issued on April 16, 2005.
    (2)   On debugging IEEE695-formatted object files: If a source program containing information on such a source line that is written to more than one address (a for statement, for example) is displayed in MIX mode, all the instructions except the beginning address are not provided.
    (3)   On displaying members of a structure or union whose length is 128 bytes or more in the Watch or Local window
For details, see RENESAS TOOL NEWS "A Note on Using the Emulator Software Packages for the E8 and E7 Emulators" NO. RSO-E8_2-050701D, issued on July 1, 2005.

2.5   Functions Improved in the H8 Tiny/SLP E7 Emulator Debugger
    (1) Memory fills verified
When the Verify option is selected at executing a memory fill, the memory fill is verified.
