A Note on Using
the High-performance Embedded Workshop
--On Updating the AutoUpdate Utility-- |
Please take note of the following problem in installing or updating the High-performance Embedded Workshop, an integrated development environment:
- On updating the AutoUpdate utility
- Product Concerned
The High-performance Embedded Workshop V.4.00.02 (bundled with any software package) and the one updated from any previous version using the update program are concerned.
- Description
In the host PC where Windows 98 SE or Windows Me is running and either the High-performance Embedded Workshops V.4.00.00 or V.4.00.01 resides, the AutoUpdate utility may not correctly be updated if any software product containing the High-performance Embedded Workshop V.4.00.02 is installed or the existing High-performance Embedded Workshops is updated to V.4.00.02 using the update program.
If the AUTOUPDA.EXE file is found in the Package\HEW\AutoUpdate folder,* it indicates that the AutoUpdate utility has not correctly been updated yet.

|
For folder name "Package" above, read the folder name where your software product containing the High-performance Embedded Workshop V.4.00.02 has been installed. |
- Workaround
Update the AutoUpdate.exe file by going through the following steps:
| (1) |
|
Make the AutoUpdate utility non-memory-resident. To do so, right-click the AutoUpdate utility icon (residing in Windows' task bar) to open a pop-up menu and then select the Close command. |
| (2) |
|
Delete the AutoUpdate.exe file, which exists in the Package\HEW\AutoUpdate folder. |
| (3) |
|
Rename the AUTOUPDA.EXE file, which also resides in the above folder, AutoUpdate.exe. |
- Schedule of Fixing the Problem
We plan to fix this problem in the next release of the software packages containing the High-performance Embedded Workshop.
