  • Supporting the LAN interface (unavailable on Windows 3.1)
The LAN interface is supported in communications between the host computer and the emulator.
  • Supporting Windows NT 4.0
Windows NT 4.0 is supported as a host OS (for IBM PC/AT or compatible only).
  • Supporting On-Demand mode
The On-Demand mode is supported, in which a swap file is created when a target program has been downloaded, and the information necessary to debugging is loaded from the file into memory at the time it is required.
  • Supporting state transition break function
The state transition break function is supported to break program execution when a break state is entered as a result of the state transitions of break events.
  • Supporting state transition trace function
The state transition trace function is supported to trace the history of program execution when a break state is entered as a result of the state transitions of trace events.
  • Supporting interval time measurement function
The interval time measurement function is supported to measure an execution time for the specified interval. This function enables you to measure an execution time between two points, a time period between two specified event established, and a time duration of a specified event established.
  • Supporting real-time trace data extraction function
Added is the extraction function that stores the trace data only to trace memory when a specified condition is satisfied.
  • Supporting resume function
    • The position and size of the window are resumed as they were at the latest quitting of PD38.
    • The target program that has been loaded is reloaded automatically upon restarting.
  • Supporting customize function (unavailable on Windows 3.1)
The user can set his own customized functions (custom command and custom window programs) to PD38.

  • Supporting serial data communications with a transmission rate of 38400 bps
Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 are available for serial data transmission with a rate of 38400 bps.
  • Supporting MIX display mode of the source program and its disassembled result
The MIX display mode, which shows the source program and its disassembled result on-screen at the same time, is added in the Program and Source Windows.
  • Line-assembling using the Program and Source Windows
Line-assemble function, which has been performed with commands only, can be done using the Program and Source Windows.
  • Functions related to RAM monitor
    • After closing the RAM Monitor and ASM Watch Windows, the setting of the color of display and the sampling period are retained.
    • Up to 10 RAM Monitor Windows can be opened simultaneously (only one Window is available on Windows 3.1).
    • The RAM monitor area can be changed during execution of the target program.
  • Saving and reloading functions of break and trace points
Breakpoints and trace points that have been set can be saved in files independently and reloaded from these files.
  • Displaying execution time in BUS display mode in Trace Window
The execution time of each cycle can be displayed in the BUS display mode.
  • Display of coverage measurement results with GUI
The display of coverage measurement results, which has been supported with commands only, can easily be done with GUI.
  • Supporting IAR's C compiler EW740 (ICC740)
The C Watch, Local, File Local, and Global Windows that reference the values of C variables are supported for this compiler.
[Limitations Removed]
The following limitations in the previous version (PDB38 V.1.00 Release 1) have been removed.
  • If either of the following conditions is satisfied, the contents of display on screen cannot be updated in the Program and Source Windows when the target program is stopped:
    • The RAM Monitor Window is not yet opened, or
    • Serial interface is used to communicate with the emulator, and both of the RAM Monitor and ASM Watch Windows are opened simultaneously.
  • Data cannot be displayed correctly when an address within the RAM monitor area is designated as a watch point and a word (2 bytes) as data length in the ASM Watch Window.
  • If either of the following conditions is satisfied, breakpoints for the source file cannot be set in the Program and Source Windows:
The directory path of the source file is described with a command line of assembler sra74 to assemble the Source file, or
Several program sections are described in one source file.
