MESC TOOL NEWS:
MESCT-PD38-980601D
Mitsubishi requests that care should be exercised about a problem that occurs in using emulator debugger PD38 (formerly called PDB38) for the 740 family of microcomputers.
Microcomputers Involved
The following 8-bit microcomputers are involved with the problem:
- M37531
- M37532
- M37536
- M37630
- To Customers Using PDB38 V.1.00
- The customers who are using PDB38 V.1.00 to develop programs for the above-mentioned microcomputers are requested to upgrade their PDB38 V.1.00 to PD38. For information on the upgrading, please contact your local Renesas Technology sales office or distributor.
Problem
When you use any one of the above-mentioned microcomputers, it is necessary to download a firmware file dedicated to the microcomputer into your PC4701 emulator system.
Files To Be Provided
The firmware and MCU files each dedicated to the above-mentioned microcomputers will be provided. Please download a self-extracting archive, firm_e.exe (489KB), that comprises the following 9 files into your PC4701 emulator system; then set them up to PD38.
| File | Description |
| M37531H.S | Firmware file for PC4701HS and PC4700H (Dedicated to M37531, M37532, and M37536) Ver.0.90.00 |
| M37531L.S | Firmware file for PC4701L and PC4700L (Dedicated to M37531, M37532, and M37536) Ver.0.90.00 |
| M37630H.S | Firmware file for PC4701HS and PC4700H (Dedicated to M37630) Ver.0.90.00 |
| M37630L.S | Firmware file for PC4701L and PC4700L (Dedicated to M37630) Ver.0.90.00 |
| M37531.MCU | MCU file for M37531 |
| M37532.MCU | MCU file for M37532 |
| M37536.MCU | MCU file for M37536 |
| M37630.MCU | MCU file for M37630 |
| readme_e.txt | Text file describing how to set up the above files to PD38 |
For information on setting up these firmware and MCU files to PD38, refer to the READ ME file (readme_e.txt), which is included in the provided files.
Specifications of the Firmware File for M37531, M37532, and M37536
The firmware file for M37531, M37532, and M37536 to be provided removes the limitations imposed when the previous firmware file, M38000L.S/M38000H.S is used. The previous firmware file comes with the following problem:
- The firmware file for M38000L.S/M38000H.S is specified to perform writes to the CPU mode register when the target program is get reset. On the other hand, the above-mentioned microcomputers can write to the CPU mode register only once after reset of the microcomputer. Therefore, writes to the CPU mode register on the target program are neglected.
