This is to announce that M16C/60 series simulator debugger PD30SIM for Windows 95/NT 4.0 (English Version) has been upgraded to PD30SIM V.3.00 Release 1.
Product Summary
PD30SIM V.3.00 Release 1 (hereafter called PD30SIM) is a simulator debugger simulating the operations of the Mitsubishi M16C/60 series of 16-bit microcomputers. PD30SIM runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. The product name of the simulator debugger has been altered from PDB30SIM to PD30SIM after this upgrade (V.3.00 Release 1).
Extended Functions
The upgraded version of PD30SIM provides the following extended functions in comparison with the previous version, PDB30SIM V.2.00 Release 1.
- I/O window
This window allows inputting and outputting data to and from memory and setting interrupts cycle by cycle.
- Window with GUI for input
A simplified key input panel for user's target system can be created in this window, and pressing created buttons inputs data or generates interrupts.
- Window with GUI for output
A simplified output panel for user's target system can be created in this window.
- I/O script function
This function allows the user to describe sequences for inputting data to memory and setting interrupts to a file in script format. For instance, operations of on-chip devices such as timers can be described to a file.
- MR command function
Added are the functions for referencing the system timer, issuing system calls, and referencing memory pools.
- Supporting IAR's C compiler ICCM16C
The upgraded version supports IAR's C compiler ICCM16C.
- Resume function
When launching PD30SIM, the position and size of a window are resumed as they were at the latest quitting of PD30SIM.
- Customize function
The user can add his own customized functions (custom commands and custom window programs) to PD30SIM. The tools needed to create custom windows and commands are also included.
- Supporting Windows NT 4.0
Windows NT 4.0 is supported as an operating environment.
Limitations Removed
The following limitations in the previous version (PDB30SIM V.2.00 Release 1) have been removed:
- PD30SIM is terminated if an x30 file generated from two or more object files with the same name is downloaded.
- An x30 file generated using linker ln30 with command parameters over 255 characters is incorrectly downloaded with a format error.

- If quick-formatted negative "src" data of one byte long (F8H-FFH) were transferred to the address register as a "dest" with an MOV instruction, the data would have to be transferred as a zero-extended 16-bit value (00F8H-00FFH). However, the data is actually transferred as a sign extended 16-bit one (FFF8H-FFFFH).

Upgrade Service Information
Upgrade service is available to the users of PDB30SIM V.2.00 Release 1 (with additional charge). For inquiries on upgrade service, contact your local Renesas Technology sales office or distributor. This service covers the upgrade of PDB30SIM V.2.00 Release 1 for Windows 3.1 to PD30SIM V.3.00 Release 1 for Windows 95/NT 4.0. The users of the product for Windows 3.1 are recommended to make use of this service.
On Supporting Windows 3.1
The upgraded version (V.3.00 Release 1) runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 only; then, for Windows 3.1 hosted environment, use the previous version (PDB30SIM V.2.00 Release 1) as before.
Note that only the products for Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 will be shipped at the next release.
