Precaution

Please take note of the following problem in using emulation pod M30620TB-RPD for the M16C/62 group of microcomputers.



Products Concerned
The products that satisfy conditions 1 and 2 below are concerned.
  1. Product Name
    M30620TB-RPD (M30620T-RPD excluded)

  2. Lot Codes
    Products bearing the following backside lot code information

    8BS001--8BS010
    8CS011--8CS022
    8DS023A--8DS028A
    8ES029B--8ES030B
    8ES031C--8ES087C

    Note: The products bearing a lot code of 8FS088D or later are not concerned.

Problem
  1. Phenomenon
    When external devices are write-accessed, the write data output delays of the emulation pods concerned do not satisfy the value specified in the manual.

  2. Operating Environment
    This phenomenon appears when the products are used in memory expansion or microprocessor mode to write-access external data areas through a separated bus.

    Notes:
    1. The above phenomenon does not appear when the products read-access external data areas.
    2. Also it is no problem when the products are used in single-chip mode.

Solutions
  1. Workaround
    The problem is circumvented by either of the following two ways:
    1. Using emulation memory instead of external data areas
    2. Changing a clock divide ratio when external data areas are write-accessed

      [Example] Usually operated in no clock divide mode -> Operated in one-half the clock frequency when external data areas are write-accessed

  2. Fixing of Problem
    For fixing the problem, your emulation pod needs to be remodeled by us. The write data output delays of the remodeled emulation pod will satisfy the specification in the manual.

Procedures for Remodeling

From July 1, 1998

[Action]
Send your product (M30620TB-RPD) to us. The product is remodeled without charge.

Your local Renesas Technology sales office or distributor

[Notes]
  1. If your emulation pod sent to us does not operate normally, the extra charge for repairing it will be added.
  2. In the above case, we will not be able to replace the defective pod with a new one.
