Precaution on Using
Time Measurement Windows
in PC4701HS/PC4700H Emulators

Please take note of the following problem in using the interval time measurement function of emulators PC4701HS/PC4700H.

Products Concerned
All the products of PC4701HS and PC4700H used in conjunction with emulator debuggers PD30 V.3.00, PD38 V.2.00, and PD77 V.1.00, or their later versions are concerned with this problem.

* When the above emulators are used with emulator debugger PDBxx, there is no problem.

Descriptions
In time measurement windows, interval time is counted using the clock in the emulator to measure time in microseconds. However, the following erroneous measurement results may be displayed owing to a circuit characteristic in the circuit which synchronizes the interval signals (MP1--MP4) varying to the timings of MCU operation with the clock signal in the emulator:
  1. Minimum time is shown extremely shorter than the real value.
  2. The number of measurements is shown less than the actual one.
  3. Measurement results are different one another even when the same event is assigned to four interval measurement signals.
Note that, however, the measurement results of execution time and those of total execution time are correctly displayed in the bus mode in trace windows.

Workaround
Download and use the cycle measurement window with customize function for circumventing the above problem.

Notices:
  • This cycle measurement window is capable of counting interval time in MCU clocks.
  • With some host machines, it may take some time to display the measurement result after the target program is stopped.
