Mitsubishi Development Support Tools
No. 2

This is to provide you with updated information on our Windows 98 hosted development support tools.

Description
The Tool News entitled "Information on Windows 98 Hosted Mitsubishi Development Support Tools", issued on November 1, 1998, notified you in its Note 2 that emulator debuggers PD38, PD77 and PD30 may not work well on Windows 98 when the LAN interface is used. However, it has been verified that the solution described below allows these emulator debuggers using the LAN interface to operate properly on Windows 98.

For details refer to Tool News, "Information on Windows 98 Hosted Mitsubishi Development Support Tools" on Nov. 1, 1998.
Solution
To run PD38, PD77 and PD30 that use the LAN interface on Windows 98, enter an entry in Windows 98's registry as follows:

Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VXD\MSTCP"
Entry Name: "SackOpts"
Data: "0"

The following procedure enables you to enter the entry in the registry:
  1. Download the executable file "SackOpts.exe" for entering the above entry in the registry from HERE.
  2. Execute this file through the Explorer window, for example.
  3. You will see the following message appears in the message box if the entry has correctly been entered in the registry.
    ---------------------------------------------
     "Completed successfully.
     Please restart your computer."
    ---------------------------------------------

  4. Click the OK button in the message box; then restart your computer.
After the above procedure is complete, you will be able to run PD38, PD77 and PD30 using the LAN interface on Windows 98 properly.
