Precautions
On Using Time Measurement Functions

Please take note of the following problem in using the time measurement functions of emulators M32000TB-2MB-E, M32000T-2MB-E, and M32000T-2MB for the M32R/D series of microcomputers.

Products Concerned
The following products are concerned with this problem:
  1. M32000TB-2MB-E
  2. M32000T-2MB-E
  3. M32000T-2MB

Problem
Setting external interrupts (for example, periodic timer interrupts) at the starting and ending positions of time measurements will generate errors that measurement values obtained are slightly less than the correct values. Therefore, don't set external interrupts such the way as mentioned above. The order of magnitude of those errors varies with the clock frequency of the target microcomputer.
  1. Case when errors occur
Errors will occur when the beginning address of the periodic timer interrupt handler is designated as the starting or ending position of time measurements in order to measure the interval of generation of periodic timer interrupts. However, errors do not occur when the time period between two points on the program, such as the execution time of the interrupt handler or arithmetic subroutine, is measured.

  2. Case when errors do not occur
Errors will not occur when the beginning address of the periodic timer interrupt handler is designated as the starting position, and the ending address of it as the ending position in order to measure the execution time of the periodic timer interrupt handler.
