MESC TOOL NEWS:
MESCT-PD38SIM-991001D
PD38SIM V.1.00 Release 1
Precaution
|
Please take note of the following problem in using simulator debugger PD38SIM for the 740 family of microcomputers.
- Problem
When a result of address calculation in the absolute X/absolute Y/indirect Y addressing modes has a value exceeding the address space of the MCU (64KB), the results of simulation by the PD38SIM will be different from the actual operations of the MCU. In the 740 family, if an address to be set exceeds the address space of an MCU, it fundamentally clears the 16th bit of the address to 0 and accesses memory inside the address space. On the other hand, the PD38SIM makes it a practice to neglect any writes or to read indefinite values in such a case, though the simulator itself will not hang.
- Workaround
If a program involved in this problem is debugged by the PD38SIM, please modify the program.
- Schedule of Fixing Problem
We plan to fix this problem in our next release, which is due in November 1999.
